Principal Ryan Bernard

Originally from Colorado, Ryan joined St. Mary’s School in 2010 after more than a decade of senior work experience in both private and public education. Ryan began as an AP Literature teacher and within three years was promoted to the school’s Academic Director and again in 2015 to the position of High School Vice Principal, where he was responsible for coordinating St. Mary’s School’s international programs, assisting in fundraising and leading the accreditation team all while maintaining his commitment to teaching and growing with his students.
In 2022, Ryan was named Principal of St. Mary’s School. In just one year, St. Mary’s broke a new record for enrollment, raised nearly $2 million in funding, and focused on expanding the school’s influence nationally and internationally.

He was raised in a musical family and ran for Team Canada at the IAAF World Cross Country Running Championships. He has experience in helping students be accepted by universities across North America, including Harvard University, which guides the way he teaches and encourages students to be strategic in their university applications. For Mr. Henshaw, education is a cornerstone for human growth. He believes education can enable people to be self-sufficient and contributing members of society, as well as world-class citizens.

Mr. Bowers began his career as a professional teacher teaching High …… School Science at the Near North School Board in Ontario, Canada, where he supervised award-winning science fair teams at the regional/provincial and international levels before moving into international education. He taught first in the UK and then in China since 2012. Allan has a wide range of interests and unique skills, including playing the trumpet, bagpipes (as piper of the 49th Royal College of Art Field Support Unit) and saxophone, horn, medium, navigation, astronomy, archery and rocketry.
